Sharing of information is closely related to community development practice in which experienced problems in social and economic progress. Typically, development projects that aim to improve the livelihoods focuses on the introduction of appropriate information and technical (know-how) that can be applied to overcome this problem. Sharing this information is either done by the officials involved in the project-specific development projects, or can be done through information products or services offered by government officials to provide local access to information for this community.
In rural communities, where a large component of people who come from traditional societies (hereinafter referred to as indigenous peoples), developer of information tends to introduce a product or service that has been implemented successfully in other contexts. Underlying information or technology sharing is the belief that they can be applied to solve or alleviate similar problems in the rural areas as well.
